History
The year was 1870, the Civil War had ended and the town of Plymouth had started to rebuild from the ashes of war that had all but destroyed the town. Louis Henry Hornthal returned from the war to his beloved fiancé Martha W. Bateman. The Four Gables was built as a wedding present to his lovely new wife. The graceful Gothic Victorian with the delicate acorn fretwork was built on the most prestigious street in Plymouth. This is the story of the romantic beginning of The Four Gables.
